Creating a Narrative World.

“Since I can remember I’ve had a passion to make films. The idea that any idea or world can be created to tell a story fuels my creative juices. My focus lies with screenwriting, directing and sometimes producing my visions and stories. My filmmaking has worn many different hats throughout the years. From documentary, to experimental, and to traditional narrative. Sometimes these worlds blur together, and sometimes their commercial, and other times their deeply personal. I feel like their is a place for all, not just one. Whatever idea or point of exhibition, even if initially foreign to me i want to explore it.”.

Stuck in the In-Between - a collection of films

The in-between in a interesting place. I think we all have it. But what is it you may ask? The In-between is a place, that i believe, is when our mind is stationary, waiting. Waiting for what? Well that depends on you. Each of these films explore the sene of longing and waiting for something to happen. You’re kind of floating in nothingness. Lines that blur, such as poetry, commercial, and narrative.

‘Saudade’ - No1. by Taylor Sanford

What is it like to be lost in the art of something? or rather what is it like to be lost by someone? The contrast of meaning allows the audience to question. There's a sense of longing, by what is it longing for? The art of missing photography? or the art of missing someone? I take the former. But you may take the latter.

‘On Hold’ - No2. by Taylor Sanford

The endless wait for something that's potentially unreachable. Is it a commercial? Or is it a Narrative? A commercial for what? Wells Fargo, no. Discover, maybe. Equator coffee, i'm not sure. A piece imagined for one thing is perceived as another. This could be a commercial but it could also be a narrative. It's what you make it to be, though you may be on hold for a while.

‘the interlude’ - No3. by Taylor Sanford

What is it like to challenge our perceptions? Our knowledge before creates an idea or feeling. This idea marinates in the mind, therefore you interpret one thing weather or not it's true. This is the in between. I challenge the audience to believe one thing then perhaps subvert that. Just when you're so sure of something, then it's not what was expected. Or is it? I guess that's up for you to interpret. This is about contrast. One idea or another. Competing with eachother. So you tell me what it is you see?

‘the epilogue of desire’ - No4. by Taylor Sanford

Where poetry meets a moving image. You ever feel in a mindspace? Lost. Floating. Sometimes we want something or rather someone else wants something. It can be a challenging to determine the right path. Or rather a course of action. Even so this piece feels like a mindspace. Is it right? endless as you float above the water. The mist floating beneath and the clouds coming in. But don't let it take hold. Find your path.
